Like the foam upon the waves
As they wash upon the shore
I am floating in a daze
Without a purpose anymore
Like the rain upon the beach
As it seeps into the sand
I am sinking out of reach
Beyond salvation of a plan
And it's only nighttime shadows
That we cast upon the ground
And it's only hopeless prayers
That we make without a sound

Like the vagueness of a face
Glimpsed for seconds in a dream
I am fading with no trace
Of understanding what it means
Like a bird upon the wing
Gliding silent through the air

Cast adrift beyond all care
