Somewhere, I've Tried
© 2006 by Joe Strell and Marie Jacobsen
Somewhere, I tried
To know the hidden way
Behind the piñon trees
Along the wall
Somewhere, I tried
To clamber back again
Among the dusty weeds
Next to the garage
And all we ever had was torn
From the pages of a hymn
I never really knew
And all I ever meant to do
Was to satisfy a whim
And soothe the raging storm
Somewhere, I tried
To softly remember you
In a coat of lavender
And a scarf of red
Somewhere, I tried
To slow the pace of time
All our days grown short
And our nights thrown wild
And all we ever had was torn
From the pages of a hymn
I never really knew
And all I ever meant to do
Was to satisfy a whim
And soothe the raging storm
Somewhere, I tried
To keep you close at hand
Through the alleyway
Where you once ran
Somewhere, I tried
To hold the memory still
But a cold wind blows
And the rains have come
Somewhere, I tried
Somewhere, I tried
Somewhere, I tried
